"Alaska '01" - Pre-Trip Instructions

Our big trip this year will be a flight from NC to Anchorage, Alaska and begin a two-week trip by mini-van. Yup... I said mini-van! Two years ago we did the RV thing to Yellowstone with both kids...this year we're all gonna head up to the land of the midnight sun and drive about 1400 miles through the back country of Alaksa, staying at the only lodging deep inside Denali National Park that doesn't involve putting up a tent.

Among a lot of other things, we're planning to spend three days inside Denali at Kantishna Wilderness Lodge, hike to and walk on the Matanuska Glacier, go Halibut fishing in Homer while staying in a cabin at what sounds like a Hippie Commune, Salmon fishing on the Kenai and Russian Rivers, take a cruise on Resurrection Bay looking for whales and calving glaciers, and stay in a cabin built into the side of a cliff with a hottub overlooking Resurrection Bay in Seward.

I am not going to be pushing myself to upload pics and journals on the trip - many locations do not have any access or even phones. If anything gets up during the trip it'll be picture dumps and sporadic stories. I'll clean it up when I get back.
