DAY 14... Our last morning in Alaska finds us up at 9am, showered, snacks in hand and checked out by 10am, said our goodbyes to the kids at the motel who've been friendly companions to my kids and head north back to Turnagain Arm. We stop at Girdwood once more to organize to rental van, stop off a the post office for last minute postcards and drive into Anchorage. There's little to write about today as we're kinda wrapping things up. I visited the Anchorage Dealership and wrestle with the dilemna over am I eligible for a dealership T-Shirt if I drive into it in a Mini-van? hmmmmm...hell yeah - I buy two...

After lunch, I stop off at Humpy's Bar downtown for one last Alaskan Brew - a PickAxe Stout - while the ladies get a few last minute items in the gift shops. I catch up to them in one shop where they excitedly drag me back to the display that shows stuff created by a guy with our same last name - for those of ya who know me - our last name is rather unusual and scarce, so I took down his name and plan to contact him when we get back.

From here, we sightsee around anchorage a bit - Pic #5 is one of many murals painted all over this city - I must admit my impression of Anchorage has improved now that I've drove around a bit - very pretty city and the traffic isn't too bad yet. One last stop planned - Beartooth Theater Pub... where we grab a dinner and a couple more beers while watching a movie - The Mexican (movie sucked and the seats were uncomfortable!), but it was fun having dinner and brews during a large-screen movie. As soon as it let out - we bee-lined to the airport and caught our 9:20 flight, the red-eye to Dallas. Thats where I am right now, at 33,000 feet over Canada getting caught up with the journal. Had a blast - the weather was great - the views better than we could have imagined and the wildlife sighting phenominal. All in all a great trip except for these coach seats on a 6 hour flight to Dallas and a 2+ hour flight to Raleigh... at least I hope to shut this off and sleep...will upload it tomorrow at home...

Hope y'all enjoyed the visit with us.
