Dear Editor...

Dear Thunder Press,

I'm writing in responce to the recent farewell address by Muthuh, and after following his tail lights as many miles as I have, I declare myself qualified. Recently I rode to Sturgis, Montana,Wyoming and points in between on what is supposed to be his farewell ride. Yep, I said "supposed" to be. As in allegedly. Or even theoretically.

Ya see, we've all been thru times in our lives where we said a variation of "I'll never..." fill in your own blanks, and we've all seen the times where we did it again anyway. Not to say we didn't mean it at the time. Nosir, we were deadly serious - I'm tellin ya we were bet-the-house possitive about it...at the time. Still, I can't help but believe that after a man has devoted as much of his life to criss-crossing the country on a bike like Muthuh has, well, I just don't think he'll be able to stop for good. Not that he was lyin to us, I don't believe that either, it's just that some ideas just make a lot more sence BEFORE you let em pass your lips and once they're out there you're lookin at em like it's somethin you stepped in. And tracked all over the house.

I know his back hurts, I know the knee doesn't allways cooperate and yeah, I know the arthritis is kickin in but still, can he really keep it parked? Bein a bettin man my money says he may actually put ol Huck out to pasture but pretty soon I think he'll hear Huck Jr callin his name. Remember Christine? "Come on big boy, let's motorvate" Maybe he thinks he can let go of the lure but I'm thnkin the hook is set waaay too deep.

If this trip really was his last it was truly a fitting ride. I could have ridden another twenty years and never found the places he's showed me, now how generous was that? Beartooth Pass, Yelowstone, the Tetons, and Shell Canyon to name a few. Sure, millions have seen the mountains without his help but how many know about that little side road that winds along by the river and leads to the waterfall? How many know the way to the peak he took us to for sunset? I sure didn't see any other bikers there. Kinda made Sturgis pale in comparison. Yeah I said it, but that's just me, I'm out there for the ride, not the show.

Like I said, I can't believe he'll really throw in the towel, but puttin along the Wind River Canyon I started to wonder "what if it really is his last?" Unable to shake that thought I bowed to temptation and bent protocol a little. I passed a few of my fellow riders and pulled in behind Muthuih - a couple of feet to the right and a couple behind and settled in for a few more miles. One last time my friend, but say it ain't so.

Cuzzin Sam

Cuz - You been playing on the computer again my friend....

'course now that you reminded the world I was quittin', I may have to actually live up to my claims... I was hoping that comment about last rides would just fade away, but now??? hmmm - I can now commiserate about it being all yer fault, Cuz.

Huck is in the shop, lookin all pitiful at me as I drove off in my brother's car... They promised to fix 'er up and wash 'er down for me... got a place in the garage all set to do some final polishing and plan to take some 20-30 pictures for ebay... 85,000 miles on this scooter - has held up well and seen some neat shit, but all joking aside, Muthuh's Rides may indeed see some more journals over the months and years, but likely from the left seat of the convertible. I feel like a cripple ol' man this morning. Hands hurt like hell, and still haven't caught up on my naps... going through a million pictures and trying to piece together my Panarama shots before I tackle which pics get in the story. Still waiting on a few from Jeff - the guy we hung with at the Chip for a while.

Was a magnificent trip, all in all... going through the pictures is showing some stunning shots - you guys all have a good eye for pics. This'll be one for the books soon.

Still... the torch is lit, and time to let you young bucks sit out front and enjoy the unobstructed view ... Return the favor and bring some newbs out west one year... I just may be taggin along with the cooler and some of yer wives in the back... "tokin on a number and diggin on the radio"* ....

(* Note to Parole Officer... those are just lyrics to an old song, don't git yer panties in a bunch.)
