Thanks ... again

Its been awhile since I've had much of anything to say without simply sounding redundant and euphoric all over again after the utterly fantastic road trip to Sturgis and other points last August. I'm sure that most of the folks that went on the trip may read this at some point, but given the opportunity to do it again, or to strike out on a trip with the same crew would simply be a no brainer as to committing to another adventure with "Muthuh" and companions. Am I still sounding euphoric and redundant?

Maybe it's been the cold weather, or perhaps a severe case of "cabin fever," but my corpuscles are starting to thin out a bit and acquire a taste for road grime, leather, wind, and a little HD noise emitting from the exhaust on the bike. I must say beyond comparison, "Muthuh's Last Ride" is forever emblazoned in my memory banks. It will be a difficult task to find a more hospitable atmosphere, more congenial group of folks to ride with, and weather, even though a bit warm on some days, more fitting for anyone's "last hurrah."

As I look around the WWW, I have yet to find a more comprehensive website that personifies the road experience more realistically that your website, "Muthuh.com." I shudder to think that at some point in time, your patience and lack of time will be its demise, and a tragic loss for so many, who, like myself, have stayed the course, looking with anticipation for the next adventure to unfold before our eyes. As we become immersed in your words, we feel the wind and smell those roadkill's that are common to the highways and byways across these great United States. Your descriptive narratives take us to places that we might never think of going to, or remind us of places we once visited but misplaced in our memories because we failed to see the significance of a "Witness Tree" due to our perhaps over zealous schedule of trying to see the world in a week instead of the time necessary to become immersed as one with wherever we might be.

I learned many things from you as our Road Captain. If I didn't glean any other morsel of knowledge from this trip, I learned that planning a trip is the most essential ingredient for having a successful ride, even if it is simply a day ride. Your thoroughness and attention to detail rivaled, if not outstripped, any "agency" that one might have used (not that I would suggest it). Your experiences on the road prevailed numerous times, facing minuscule crisis moments with assurance and authority, overcoming adverse moments without panic or lack of confidence.

Your planning efforts were all but unknown to most of us as we began the trip, but they became readily prominent as each day unfolded with a new activity, destination, or even locating gas on some of the long stretches of highways that are common to the western destinations. I know that I speak for everyone in saying that we applaud and appreciate your efforts. I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir with some of my comments as so many people have ridden with you on previous occasions. Unfortunately, this was my first and, per your intent to pull the top down on the ragtop, could be my only trip with "Muthuh." My loss. Our loss.

I gained a new appreciation for planning, responsibility, new friends, a GPS, and so many other facets of a trip that are simply taken for granted when we saddle up and fall in behind our Road Captain. We make assumptions that all is taken care of and someone has every facet of every mile ready for us to enjoy.

So, it is with that intensity of appreciation that I salute you, your great efforts to ensure the safety, well-being, and sheer enjoyment for all who have taken a ride with "Muthuh", basking in the results, enjoying the new friendships and reliving old experiences and memories, reading through the archives of Muthuh.com as we fully begin to appreciate the efforts you made through the years to give others a macro view of life on the road.

As Jimmy Durante used to say on TV ..... "Thanks for the memories." And thanks for allowing me to be a part of Muthuh's last ride. To all of those who I met through this trip, thanks for all that we experienced together and let's not let it be our last ride together.
